Arabic art isn't at all like the art of most of the rest of the world. There is an Islamic prohibition against making art of any kind that represents real things, at least in the modern era. There have been periods where representational art was not as discouraged. As a result, the only other outlet for artistic expression is in writing. Mostly this is seen in very fancy Koranic verses, but here are a few examples of less lofty, but still fanciful writing.


Since brand names are usually transliterated rather than translated, this reads Seven Up Free, or rather yrf p' nvs, which is pronounced exactly like the English version. Arabic is written right to left and usually without vowels.


This one reads tyal aloc acoc, pronounced Coca Cola light.


And this one reads tyal tyarps, pronounced Sprite light.
