Cassini spacecraft has been orbiting Saturn for several years now. Cassini gave us this view of Saturn. Click here for the hi res image from wikipedia. What I really like about this picture is that there is a small bright blue dot just to the left and above the brightest rings. Saturn is sharing the stage with its little brother Earth.
Cassini also dropped the Huygens lander on Titan and showed us its surface for the f irst time ever. The "sand" is hydrocarbon ice and the "rocks" are water ice.
Most recently, Cassini has been taking a close look at Enceladus. This moon is mostly water ice so it is very bright. It reflects nearly 100% of all light so it is also very white. Today Cassini will make the latest close flyby and get even more imagery, but you can see some impressive photographs from previous flybys here. My favorite is this one.

There is so much left to discover just in our own neighberhood. How many little treasures like Enceladus do you think God left for us to find?

Wow! Thanx! for sharing. Dad said you'll be home for Thanxgiving. Very happy to hear that!
We'll still be in Sheridan..
That is beautiful.
Of course, any mention of Saturn's moon brings Mimas to mind. It's by far my favorite.
